CRAFTING THE ACTOR

CRAFTING THE ACTOR

AN ACTING WORKSHOP FOR THE SCREEN

Our son Lukas did a week of Summer Acting Camp annot only did he have a  great experience, so did we as parents. Kim took several hours out of her busy schedule to give me free, detailed information and advice on acting and casting involving children. We were very impressed with the generous and friendly service we received. Thank you!

INT. SHORELINE STUDIOS - PRESENT DAY

Our ACTING WORKSHOPS have been called LIFE CHANGING.

Each workshop is designed to enhance or create an intensive and deeper understanding of a particular area of the art and craft of acting.

Our week-long workshop introduce students to what it takes to become a working film and TV actor! Train with top-working actors in town to learn different approaches and gain practical, comprehensive experience and knowledge in a fun, safe and supportive environment! We foster actors who are more than just actors by helping them build their confidence and find their individuality.

It's a great time to make friends, learn and explore characters, and find out more about yourself!

START NOW. CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

CUT TO:

Green to the biz or looking to keep up with your chops? Cool, you'll fit right in! We cater to those in the classes with specific materials so each actor is challenged appropriately. We welcome students of all levels as everyone has something to learn from each other.

Learn the lessons and exercises that our working, superstar students and instructors have learned and used to book - from the day players to leads in Film & TV shows!

You don't need much - be prepared to learn, explore, and make discoveries! Remember, we're here to have a good time, even when we're doing the tough work... So leave the ego at the door. You can pick it up on your way out.

This workshop is filmed. A Link to your on-camera footage will be sent shortly after the course. Review and Enjoy - see how much progress can be made in just a week!

Here's what FamilyFun Canada had to say about our upcoming acting workshops! Check out the ARTICLE!

BRING A FRIEND

There's always enough fun to go around.

Ask about referral & sibling discounts!

EARLY DROP-OFF

Does your day start earlier?

Doors open at 8:00 AM for early drop-offs.

LATE PICKUP

Can only swing by later? No worries, we'll

be around if you need to do a late pickup.

SCENE STUDY

What are the choices? How do you make the choice that is uniquely you, that supports the story, that sparks your soul? This is tough work. We use scripts that reflect the young person's experience at all levels of society. This work ain't for babies.

AUDITION ETIQUETTE & TECHNIQUE ON CAMERA

To be in the game, you gotta know how to manage your business. Remember, you have to act like a professional to work like one, so know your Do's and (Please) Don'ts...

Learn the audition process and how to work the room! From commercials to kids' sitcoms and drama, create rich, emotionally-connected characters. We know that the students who book great roles are the students who are free to fly their freak flag, to be unique, to be authentic. Youʼll work with the camera, show relationship, use effective eye-lines and suggest the characterʼs world without mime.

VOICE-OVER

How do you portray anything and everything with just your voice? Well, that's what you're going to learn. Shine with your own unique take on characters, bring them to life! Plus, these gigs are the best - where else can you go to work in your pajamas?!

COLD READING

Yup, one of the things that even professional actors fear most. The Cold Read (dun, dun, duuunn!). When there's little to even no time to bring a scene to life, we stay calm to keep the focus on the important things. Learn how to work on your feet and follow your instincts when developing character, while discovering and understanding key story elements. Lastly, but not least, the little moments make the difference so we're going to make sure they count!

IMPROVISATION

Build active listening skills, solve problems creatively, and how to work with a scene partner. Create a full character and learn how to set up an environment. You’ll be learning the building blocks of storytelling and scene creation. Improvisation is a fundamental part of acting because it throws you into the unknown in a safe and extremely fun way.  It builds confidence and helps you think on your feet!

CHARACTER WORK

As artists, we're expected to step into another's shoes and learn perspective. Here's where things may get a little weird, but awesome. While following the lead of the given circumstances, we're going to explore and make discoveries.

We're going to use your instincts and push boundaries to figure out the details: from where your energy lies to how you move and interact. Where does your voice come from (while staying conscious of "speaking American")? While learning HOW, we're also going to focus on WHY. Bringing all the little bits together to produce a fully-rounded character.

VOICE, BODY & MOVEMENT

When you're playing the guitar, you gotta make sure it's in tune. Well, the same goes for when you're acting; your body is your instrument so make sure you take care of it!

...AND SO MUCH MORE!

Let's find what works for YOU.

COVID-19 CHANGES

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Due to the evolving situation with COVID-19, please note that we have made certain changes to the workshop structure. Our studios have been rearranged to encourage proper social distancing and we ask that participants stay 6 feet apart whenever possible. All participants will be provided with a face shield and are required to wear this PPE at all times with the exception of when working on camera. If any participant feels unwell, please stay home. Participants will be sent home if they are displaying any cold/flu-like symptoms. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to working with you! Please email or call if you have any questions or concerns and to learn about other changes we've made!

We are passionate and pragmatic idealists. We believe that our work makes the world a better place. Actors are asked to walk in another's shoes and to understand human behavior. In doing this, we learn compassion. Compassion gives us the Courage to be ourselves while understanding that others must be themselves. We believe that a Commitment to that understanding will translate to all areas of an artist’s life.

Compassion, Courage, and Commitment are the values we live by and what we instill in our work and in our students. Our students are expected to be great. We set the bar high and they are expected to meet or exceed it. We have tremendous pride in our work and the work of our students.

Stay in the loop!
