All of our instructors are working actors, but as they're artists, they're more than just actors. A lot of them write, direct, produce, and/or work alongside production & casting as well! We're super proud to have a roster full of awesome creators who care and share our common goal in building a talent-rich community.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Omari Newton is an award-winning professional actor, writer, director, and producer. As a writer, his original Hip Hop theatre piece Sal Capone has received critical acclaim and multiple productions, including a recent presentation at Canada’s National Arts Centre. He has been commissioned by Black Theatre Workshop (BTW) in Montreal to write a companion piece to Sal Capone entitled Black & Blue Matters. The new piece is set to premiere at BTW in 2019.

Newton’s work in Speakeasy Theatre's production of Young Jean Lee's The Shipment earned him a 2017-2018 Jessie Richardson Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor, as well as a nomination for Best Direction.

Notable film & TV credits include: Lucas Ingram on Showcase’s "Continuum", Larry Summers on "Blue Mountain State" and lending his voice to the "Black Panther" in multiple animated projects (Marvel). Most recently, Omari has a recurring role as Nate on "Corner Gas" (the animated series) and a recurring role as Corvus of Netflix’s hit new animated series "The Dragon Prince".

 

AGAM DARSHI

Agam Darshi is a Canadian actress and filmmaker. Born in England and raised all over Canada, Agam Darshi is an award winning actor, writer and filmmaker currently splitting her time between Vancouver BC and Los Angeles, California. Agam Darshi is the co‐founder of Western Canada’s very first INTERNATIONAL SOUTH ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL (VISAFF). Most recently, Agam wrote and performed the one‐woman show “Burning Point” at the Railtown Actors Studio as a workshop presentation, to sold out audiences and rave reviews. To date, Agam has written and produced five short films.

 

As a successful actress, Agam has been working professionally across Canada and the United States for the past 14 years. In 2012 she won a Leo Award for best supporting actress for her role as Jasleen Recket in Bruce Sweeney’s crime drama “Crimes of Mike Reckett”, which premiered at TIFF. Agam has starred in numerous TV series such as “Played” (CTV), “Sanctuary” (SYFY) and “Dan For Mayor” (CTV). She was also a cast member in Emmy winner Jason Katims’ pilot “County” (NBC) and worked alongside Carrie Anne Moss in the pilot “Normal” (LIFETIME). Most recently Agam Darshi is recurring in “You Me Her” (DIRECT TV), and “The Romeo Section” (CBC). She also appears in the critically acclaimed feature film “Brain on Fire”, which premiered at TIFF this past year.

Andrea was born in Bratislava, at the time in a communist Czechoslovakia, now the capital of Slovakia, and immigrated to Vancouver in 1998 with her parents, brother and dog. Growing up in a family of artists, she has been immersed in the creative world since a very young age. She danced, played piano, took painting classes, sang in the choir, but her deepest passion was acting and writing. Emerging as an actor through Meisner she also studied drama in Montreal (John Strasberg included), and Lyric in Vancouver, BC.

 

Andrea has appeared in films/TV including the E! Network's scripted drama, “The Arrangement”, created by Jonathan Abrahams (Mad Men), CBS's “Zoo” (Billy Burke, Nonso Anozie), the crime thriller “Dark Harvest” directed by James Hutson. She’s the star of an upcoming arthouse/action feature, “Velvet” (working title), directed by Kirk Caouette, and she has a memorable performance in the humanitarian feature called “Unmasked”, directed by Mostafa Keshavari. Most recently, you can catch her in the all-female-crew Canadian lesbian drama “Below Her Mouth” and in the upcoming action-adventure spy thriller trilogy, “AST” (Jesper Christensen, Robert Maillet).

 

CHRISTIE BURKE

Christie Burke is an actress who is fast making a name for herself. With a lead role in the new ‘Vicious Brothers’ motion picture “Still/Born”, following a recurring role on “Van Helsing” and the Canadian drama “Strange Empire” it was her principal role in the blockbuster Twilight Saga “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” that instantly garnered her international attention and recognition. Joining superstars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, Burke played their on-screen teenage vampire/human daughter named Renesemee.  Other projects in which she has appeared include Spielberg's “Falling Skies”, J.J. Abrams's “Almost Human” as a guest star, the Leo Award nominated feature “Black Fly”, and numerous indie films.

 

Named after Christie Brinkley, Burke was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. Born to a Canadian mother who is a former national level gymnast and a Kiwi father, who constructs movie sets, Burke had a very modest upbringing with her younger sister Zoe and brother Mark. Art-driven from a young age, she first realized she wanted to act after watching the movie ‘Titanic’, where she was so moved by the dramatic story that she wanted to touch others in the same way. It wasn't until high school, where she joined the improv team, that she began actively working towards her dream. On the fast track to stardom, Christie is destined to become one to watch in Hollywood.

 

DAVID KAYE

David is an actor/producer who has been working in film and TV since the age of four. At the age of eleven, he began working as a voice actor as well in cartoons and video games. In 2008, he started a small film production company with Jameson Parker while enrolled at the University of British Columbia. David graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Acting. David has had a hand in putting together over 50 productions including music videos, short films, web commercials, branded content, and web series'. David is currently producing and performing in an animated series and a feature film, as well as writing a hip hop musical for the stage.

Erin has been working in film, television, and theatre for thirteen years in the US and Canada. She has studied and worked in Philadelphia, New York, Toronto, Vancouver, and Los Angeles in voice, scene analysis, audition, improv, Method, Alexander and Meisner techniques. After playing Christina in "Red Light Winter" in Vancouver, she moved to Los Angeles to work as a producer's assistant and casting associate, running casting sessions while learning the industry ins and outs through mentorship with film festival directors and film producers. She studied comedy sitcom with Lesly Kahn, performed in a winning play for the Hollywood Fringe Festival and continued studio work with Lonsdale Smith Studios. She then focused on writing and performing her own work, in addition to playing Chick in "Crimes of the Heart" and Jeannie in "Fat Pig". She has produced two short films, "NOMANSLAND" and "Fruitcake", that have played in festivals around the world and has worked with Wickline Casting and the Actors Center in Philadelphia, Betty Mae Casting and Cherin Perelman Casting in Los Angeles, and now Shoreline Studios in Vancouver.

Grateful to do what she loves, Ingrid voices characters on many hit shows. Some favourite voice projects include "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" (Maud Pie and Pie Sisters), "Littlest Pet Shop: A World of Our Own" (lead Jade Catkin), "Strawberry Shortcake" (Raspberry Torte) as well as characters in various Barbie movies. A diverse artist, you can also find Ingrid on screen in various TV series and feature films in a professional career that has spanned 17 years so far. She holds an Honours degree in Theatre from UBC. Her passion for theatre and creating work has led to two hit one-woman, site-specific shows in The Vancouver Fringe. JAY HINDLE

Jay is a professional actor and producer who works on both national and international stages. He’s the co-founder of Archetype Pictures and has been acting for twenty years, producing for six. Graduating with distinction from the University of Victoria, Canada with a B.F.A in Acting, Jay performed in over 10 lead roles. He’s guest starred on the CBD comedy “The Ex-List”; a lead in the 20th Century Fox feature film “I Am”; “Green Valley” and “Seeing Other People”. He performed three National Tours in the UK of "Macbeth", "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Twelfth Night" and produced and directed theatre in Torquay, England. He's acted in over 30 theatrical productions in Canada, the US and England.

A Los Angeles industry veteran who’s recently relocated to Vancouver, Jesse James has been working with Hollywood’s biggest talent for nearly 25 years. From getting his start as Helen Hunt’s son in the Oscar-winning “As Good As It Gets”, to starring roles in films such as “Blow”, “The Butterfly Effect”, “Pearl Harbor” and “The Amityville Horror”, to recently making guest star appearances on “Mad Men” and “The Good Doctor”, he’s known as a tireless worker and consummate professional. Having worked with iconic directors (Robert Altman, James L Brooks, etc) and studied under renowned coaches (Ivana Chubbuck, Amy Lyndon, Andrew Magarian, Leigh Kilton-Smith), Jesse is pleased and excited to share his experience with the Vancouver acting/filmmaking community!

 

MAGDA APANOWICZ

Magda Apanowicz began her life in Poland until she was in the ninth grade and fell in love with acting at the age of 10 when her brother introduced her to the Quentin Tarantino film "Pulp Fiction". Magda began her professional career in the television series "Jeremiah and John Doe". She went on to star as ‘Andy Jensen’ in the series "Kyle XY" and also starred in the Hallmark original movie "Every Second Counts". After the success of "Kyle XY", she appeared in the critically acclaimed series "Caprica" as ‘Lacy Rand’. She followed "Caprica" with starring roles on CW's "Hellcats" and a comedy web series: "Husbands". While joining the cast of Sci-Fi series "Continuum" for three seasons, Magda also starred in a number of movies for television including "Holiday Wishes", "Devil’s Diary", and "Fatal Memories". She has also recurred, and guest starred on many television series including "The L Word", "Robot Chicken", "The Mentalist" and "Motive". Magda starred in the box office hit "The Green Inferno" for horror master director Eli Roth and can be seen starring in the films "The Butterfly Effect", "Dead Souls", and "A Reason". Magda recently starred in the Tony Dean Smith film "Volition", and is guest starring on the mega hit CW series "Supernatural".

Michael spent his early years performing with The Rocky Mountain Shakespeare Company, and later at The Banff Centre of Fine Arts. Michael studied theatre and musical theatre under the guidance of the Canadian icon Sylvia Hosie. He has over six years formal voice training with world-renowned Russian Master, Nikoli Kolesnicov,  and is a graduate of the Citadel/Robbin’s Academy for Actors. In theatres across Canada, Michael has performed in such shows as the world premier of "Ga Ting", the first Canadian productions of "In the Heights" and "Fiorello". Michael has received two nominations for Best Actor and an Ovation Award for Best Musical. His television credits range from shows such as "Supernatural", "Arrow", "Continuum", "Falling Skies". His film roles Include: "WarCraft", "Odysseus: and the Isle of the Mist", "Pants on Fire", "Postal", "Dungeon Siege 2", "The Sandlot" 2&3, "Blood Brothers", and more.

Morgana Wyllie, is originally from Edmonton Alberta, where she attended and graduated from Victoria School of the Arts. Since moving to Vancouver, Morgana has appeared in a variety of television, film and theatre, most recently "Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics" (AMC). Some of her theatre credits include Carol in "Oleanna" (Farm & Forage Theatre); Three seasons with Shift theatre appearing in "Very Still and Hard to See", "Things that Go Bump in the Night", and "Seascape with Sharks and Dancer", and Sophe in "The Star Spangled Girl" (Groupvan Theatre).

Robyn Ross’ acting career started over four decades ago with a soup commercial and she’s been working ever since. Nominated for three Leo Awards and a Best Actress in a Cable Series/Youth In Film Award for her lead role on Nickelodeon’s “Fifteen”, with Ryan Reynolds, other selected credits include, the Farrelly brothers’s TV show “Loudermilk”, a recurring role in the acclaimed Netflix series “Riverdale”, the Oscar nominated, “Juno” (director Jason Reitman), “Lucky Seven”, with Patrick Dempsey, “I Want to Marry Ryan Banks” with Bradley Cooper and Jason Priestly, a recurring role on Showtime’s trailblazing, “The L Word” , Cedar Cove with Andie MacDowell and her starring role as Ellie Holman in the acclaimed indie feature, "Suck It Up Buttercup". Robyn has also worked in the voice over world with many roles in the “Megaman” cartoon series including one of the leads, Stacey Forsythe, in Capcom’s very popular “Dead Rising” video game franchise and most recently in the Ricky Gervais animated feature film “The Willoughby’s”. She has studied acting in New York with the venerable Michael Howard and Michael Shurtleff. With an unwavering love for acting, Robyn continues to be inspired by teaching others her craft and finds constant inspiration through the eyes of the actors she has the honor of coaching.

 

STEVEN ROBERTS

Steven Roberts made his stage debut in 2012 in an original production of "Let me Up", an original touring play. Since then he has been pursuing a career in theatre and film. Steven was nominated for an on screen performance in SIC for Best Supporting Actor by the Maverick Movie Awards in New York City. Since he has worked in film and television, he has a flare for playing tragic, darker roles bringing humor and humanity to light. Some of his most recent credits include "Tully" directed by four-time Academy award nominee Jason Rietman and starred alongside Oscar winner Charlize Theron. Steven has also starred in various television series including recurring roles on "The Romeo Section" and has made other guest appearances on shows such as "Once Upon a Time" and "The Wilding".  He has studied with renowned acting coaches such as Larry Moss and Patsy Rodenburg and is currently making an impact on the independent film community with leading roles in "The Velvet Cut", directed By Shaun Stander and "In God I Trust", directed by Paul Amand due to hit the festival circuit in 2017.
