UNDERSTAND CHARACTER AND BUILD DEPTH FROM AN ANGLE LIKE NO OTHER
The purpose of this workshop is to delve into and explore the world of creating a character, inside and out.
To find your truth in the characters you discover and how that translates through scene work, on camera.
To perhaps challenge yourself and your art more than you have before.
I'd never taken an acting class like this before. Studying the Laban technique under Nic's supervision at Shoreline Studios was a step I am really glad I took. It was an intimate class and working together was rewarding and illuminating. Learning to create character physically and working on different types of movement allowed me to access a different approach to understanding acting, and I am so glad I signed up. I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking to delve deeper into embodying characters and getting in touch with their physicality.

An atypical, advanced class as you explore how movement affects us all in unique ways.

Bringing it all together, applying it to text and running it on camera!

This Master Class was a great experience! Nic made the Laban Technique easy to understand and the atmosphere surrounding the class, as an actor, felt very welcoming. It's affected and changed my craft for the better. I can't wait to see where this method takes me.

I truly had a blast and learned a ton over the course. It surpassed my expectations and am really happy with the overall experience and content of the work. I really appreciated the way the course was laid out, with on camera work arriving later and a focus on what and how the technique affected the individual occurring each session.
Laban and the annotations will forever be a part of my process moving forward and the opportunities for discovery into specific behaviour(S) are infinitely explorative and illuminating. I specially enjoyed the “Hot Seat” and the experience of acting through it and subsequently participating with others while they were in the “Hot Seat.“
So much of the Laban work feels personal, explorative and active. As a result the class felt like it was always moving towards the “let’s get up and do” mentality. I feel like Nic reads the individual very astutely and was a very collaborative, honest and passionate advocate for developing character from a place of truthful behaviour. He guided and clarified with a mindful energy and was open and honest about his and our work and relationship to the technique.
I took the course with a lean towards advancing my understanding of something I knew nothing about (Laban) and I feel it was well worth the time and energy. It’s applicable to the work immediately which to me was a huge plus. Thanks to you guys so much for organizing and holding this course, it’s something I will recommend freely and can’t speak more highly of the class, Nic and the experience. (re: 6 Week Course)
