AUDITION ON CAMERA
PART TIME FILM & TV TRAINING FOR ADULTS
Covering the Do's and the Please “Please” Don’ts of the audition room, this Audition Lab will focus on preparing actors for what to do in an audition setting. The actors will be given scenes specific to them and the types of roles they should be auditioning for. Scenes will be sent out at various times before the start of class, much like a real audition, and then worked through during the course. The goal being to teach specific audition techniques that will get our local actors working! Focusing on what an actor can book now by working through roles that are currently being cast. The most important thing for our local actors is to build their resumes, which will give them the freedom to continue to work their craft as they go!
Scenes will be chosen specifically for each actor from shows that are relatively current.
Scenes will be recorded and sent to the actors each week.
Industry professionals will make guest appearances to the class occasionally to provide insight and check out faces they may not have seen yet.
Open to actors bringing in their own scenes to work on as well!
NOVEMBER 4 - DECEMBER 16, 2019 (6 Weeks)
Want to Audit? Sure. Be prepared to jump in and get to work, we don't believe in audiences.
Each class is taught by a Regular Instructor, but as all of our instructors are working actors, there will be opportunities for Guest Instructors to jump in and teach!
We send out Weekly Homework Emails to keep you in the loop and materials will be assigned accordingly. Please note that the emails can be sent a week before or up to the night before the day of class. This is to have actors practice working in real time. Auditions come sporadically so no time to prepare like the present!
Each actor works differently and our goal is to pass forward Safe Techniques that the actor can explore to see if it works for them as an individual, in a supportive environment.
We Do Not teach Substitution.
Catch Up System: If an actor has to miss a class, there is a possibility of scheduling a (semi)private catch up session. In the session, with an instructor, they would go over the concepts taught in the class they missed. To be eligible for a session, the actor must notify the office prior to the specific class with one of the applicable reasons: illness, on set, at an audition, out of town, or prior commitment. Our thought behind it: Just because you can't make it to an in-room audition, you can still throw your hat in the ring by sending in a self-tape!
